West Branch Membership 2017 - Update
New Memberships Clarification: It was previously announced that no further New Membership applications will be accepted until after our Annual Meeting on February 26th. This applies ONLY to REQUESTS for New Applications, NOT to Applications we have already sent out. Of the 68 we sent, we have so far received back only 48. If you have a New Member Application form that we already sent you, please send it back to us ASAP, and it will be processed. Whether we continue to accept Requests for New Applications after the Annual Meeting depends on the number of Membership Renewals received by then. Further announcement will be made here at that time. Most of the Applications we already received have been processed, and Orientation Announcements went out by February 11th. A few of you noticed that the Orientation Announcement contained a couple of obvious typos. For one thing, the date for the Orientation was wrong. The correct date is Saturday, April 22nd, 2017. Corrections were mailed on February 11th. The mailed correction, however, did not note that Dues paid at the 2017 Orientation will be renewable at the Annual Meeting in February, 2018, obviously not 2017.
Membership Renewals Our processing of Membership Renewals was delayed by an unexpectedly long turnaround time by our printer for creation of the new Member ID Cards for 2017. We did not receive the new cards until Friday, January 27th. Our apologies for the inconvenience. Backlogged Renewals have now been processed, and Member ID Cards were mailed by February 11th. Renewals received on or after that date are being processed as they arrive. For the time being, if you call us for any reason, please leave a voice message if we do not answer! Due to the unusually large volume of calls received over the past few weeks, we are not answering calls from unknown numbers! We will continue to promptly answer all inquiries submitted by email, as usual.
Members, please do not copy and distribute our application forms. All application forms must be requested from our website via the "CONTACT US" link above. New applicants may request the forms directly from our website, or a current member may request the forms for them. Members may not request forms for more than two new applicants..
Members, Please see our Members Only area for:
West Branch Members, please sign up for our Members Only area! It will be updated shortly, with news from the 2017 Annual Meeting.
Our 2017 Entry Code (found on the back of your Member ID Card) is now in effect! The 2016 Code will remain active until about the second week of March, while our Membership Roster is updated with 2017 membership renewals. Our Customer Service Team (Carl) reports that more than 300 members have now registered for access.
To sign in, just click the Member Login link above. Then sign in with our 2017 Entry Code and your email address. If we find your email address when you sign in, you will go directly to our Members Only area. We keep only one email address on file for each member, so if you have more than one, and can't sign in, either try a different one, or be sure you spelled it correctly, or register a new one per the instructions below.
How To Register If we do not find your email address, you will be directed to a form you can use to register manually. Just fill out the form to send us the information we will need to verify your membership. Please be sure to spell your email address correctly, or we won't be able to get back to you! (It would be a good idea to include your phone number in the Message, in case the email address you provide doesn't work.) After we receive and process your information successfully, we will notify you by email that you have been registered and will then be able to access the Members Only area. Manual registration may take at least one day to complete. Please be patient while we process your request. If you have any problem using the registration and login process, please contact our IT Support Team (Carl).
Our Junior Rifle Program
Our 2017 Season begins on Saturday, May 6th!
The mission of our Junior Rifle program is to properly train young people in firearm safety and marksmanship. We believe that a working knowledge of safe and responsible handling and competent use of firearms is essential to everyone. There is no safety in ignorance!
We will meet on the first and third Saturdays of every month thru September. New shooters may enroll for the first time at any session during the months of May thru July, but may not enroll after the second Saturday in July.
If you would like to join our program, please CONTACT US starting in April, and request the required Parental Permission forms. We will send you the forms and answer any other questions you might have. (Members may download the forms from our Members Only area.) Please note that even if you attended our proram in previous years, you will still need to re-register with new forms this year. You may CONTACT US at any time with any questions about our program.
Our program is available to all families who are US citizens. West Branch membership is not required. There are no range fees or other charges. We offer this program as a community service, to promote firearm safety and basic training in marksmanship.
Our Junior shooters range in age from 8 to 18. They must have written parental permission to participate in our program, and must be accompanied at each session by a parent or other responsible adult.
We provide the firearms (.22 caliber target quality rifles), ammunition, and other necessary equipment. Everyone should bring their own appropriate eye and ear protection, though we do have loaners available the first time you attend.
Our Junior shooters are trained by our team of NRA Certified Rifle Instructors and other experienced shooters. Their training begins with a thorough safety orientation, then they start out on the firing line in a carefully supervised bench rest position. Safety remains our primary concern, as our young shooters go on, at their own individual pace, to develop marksmanship skills in the four basic shooting positions. As they progress, they earn certificates and medals in the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program. Over many years, we and those who passed this responsibility down to us have trained hundreds of young shooters in essential firearm knowledge and skills.
